144 "قَدْ نَرَى تَقَلُّبَ وَجْهِكَ فِي السَّمَاءِ فَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَ قِبْلَةً تَرْضَاهَا فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَحَيْثُ مَا كُنتُمْ فَوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ لَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ وَمَا اللَّهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ"

In this verse, Allah informs His Prophet that He sees him turning his face in all directions in the sky. Moreover, He informs him that He makes him turn in a direction that pleases Him. He then orders him to turn towards the Sacred Mosque, and to the believers wherever they may be. The compass on this prayer mat will ensure that you're always facing the qibla.
