Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reports: Fatimah Bint Abi Hubaysh asked the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon Him): "I am a woman who suffers from metrorrhagia and I can never purify myself. Should I forsake prayer?" He replied:

"No, it's a bleeding vein, not [du sang] menstruation. When your period begins, you should relax your prayer. And when your period ends, cleanse yourself of the blood and pray."

(Sahih Mouslim -333).
